If you still don't want to install that, you can just use youtube-dl (it downloads from many sites, not just youtube) and ffmpeg to merge the audio and video yourself (they are CLI programs, so they don't have a visual interface, all is done through the terminal, so you will have to learn a bit about how they work to use them), but those are external programs. It also requires an app (like most decent video downloader extensions as already stated), but it appears on the installed applications menu (on windows at least), so it should be easy to uninstall if you don't like it later.
